VALUE FOR MONEY – WE NEED YOUR VIEWS

Are you free on 11 July and would like to give your views on a Value for Money Action Plan?

We have recently put together an action plan around value for money to ensure that we are able to provide key services whilst achieving savings and efficiencies.  This will help us to identify priorities for spending, save money and improve the services that we provide for you.

So, we would like you views on this action plan.   Are you interested?

Your feedback and involvement is vital to the success of our organisation. It’s only with your help that we can make things better where you live. That’s why we would like to get your input on this.

By taking part, you will also learn lots of skills that can help you in a work environment and also in your everyday life such as evaluation, document review and analysis. Don’t worry if you are not sure and haven’t done anything like this before - you will receive training and this will give you a deeper insight into the subject of achieving value for money and how we intend to use your views.

We will cover your travel expenses and lunch will be provided. You will also have the opportunity of meeting other residents and making new friends.

There will be two sessions and the first one will take place on Thursday 11th July.

If you are interested in getting involved contact Rita Ferguson on 0121 358 8033 or by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Head Office Refurbishment - Building Work Begins

The refurbishment of our Head Office and Housing Office at Beacon Court has started today - May 21st and will continue until the end of August 2013

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused whilst we make these improvements but feel assured that we will try and continue to operate with as little disruption to our customers as possible.  If you are driving to Head Office parking will be restricted and visitors may have difficulty parking next to the office. Our advice is to park on Readers Walk and then walk round to the office.

When the work is complete I am sure you will appreciate the difference the changes will make.
In the meantime if anyone has any questions about the refurbishment work please contact Mike Idowu, Nehemiah UCHA Property Services Manager on Tel: 0121 358 8054 or email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Big Lottery FundWe have put a grant from the Big Lottery Fund’s Reaching Communities Programme to good use funding IT education for our older residents and now residents at our Dudley retirement scheme, Henry Court have been awarded with certificates for their hard work.

Over the last ten weeks resTrevor Morris from Henry Court receiving his certificateidents from Dudley’s Henry Court Retirement scheme in Charlton Street have been taught basic computer skills and learning how to use the Internet for useful activities, such as staying in touch with friends and family, shopping and even to exercise.

Age Concern Birmingham has provided the tutors for the scheme and 67 year old Trevor Maxwell who had never touched a computer is one of Henry Court’s enthusiastic band of novice ‘silver surfers’ to have received their computer skills certificate of achievement this week.

Henry Court Scheme Manager Caroline Reid said: "Most of the residents who took part had never touched a computer in their life. They are now so enthusiastic to learn more."

The course was such a success that others are planned.

Nehemiah UCHA’s retirement housing team secured £136,324 from the Big Lottery Fund’s Reaching Communities Programme for our five retirement schemes in Birmingham, Dudley, Walsall, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton. The money is now being used to teach up to 200 older residents across the West Midlands IT skills and also take part in fitness classes, as part of the organisation’s Silver Surfers and Supple Project initiative.
